More Leipzig landing!

The central train stations here are no joke. We headed there for a bakery breakfast this morning and also stopped at the Supercut (not affiliated with Supercuts…) to get Peter’s shaggy hair cut as well. Pretty exciting to have so much stuff at a train station, although Peter was pretty nervous about the whole thing and kept pointing out people with strange styling (pink-tipped mohawks, mullets, etc) and going “what if they make me look like that guy?” He ended up looking just fine despite some language barrier, however, so hooray.

We then went to the Leipzig zoo, which is HUGE! It has got to be one of the most elaborate zoos I’ve ever seen. Amongst other things, we saw a raven biting the tail of a nonchalant prairie dog, elephants, stinky giraffes, very cold rhinos, blue-butt baboons, snorting seals, snow leopards having a crunchy lunch (cows?), very very lively spider monkeys, and tapirs. We could even see red pandas napping from the window by our table at the “Mexican” lunch place. Very cool!

Peter had orchestrated dinner reservations at the Panorama Tower (at the top of the MDR – Morton David Rosenberg??? hehehe – building), which was very fancy! The night view was great and the food was tasty, not the least of which was soft-boiled quail eggs with bacon-wrapped quail – wee! We were able to walk a little more around downtown afterwards which was also nice.
